Your Children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you. And though they are with you they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their thoughts dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. Kahlil Gibran

So Lucky

We are very lucky Willow just had ureter reconstruction surgery which will hopefully reduce the number of high fevers associated with UTIs she has had. We are also lucky that one side corrected itself with time, so she only needed surgery on one side to protect the kidneys. Fortunate for us an amazing hospital is just a ferry ride across the (ocean...according to Willow) lake. Willow was very excited to return to this hospital because everyone has been great to her during all of her other procedures. When we drove into the hospital car garage at 5am she cheered because she was going to get macaroni and cheese.

Jenny, one of Willow education specialist, gave her a gift of one purple and one green "Mama" washcloths for the hospital stay. When she opened them she said, "Ahhhh, Jenny!" She also brought her llama from Uncle Miles and Aunt Monica on the trip to the hospital.
Willow was very brave and did an amazing job.
We are so very lucky that this was a simple procedure, we have good health insurance, and Willow has a quick recovery. None of that we take for granted.
Willow feels lucky for dial-up room service and macaroni and cheese. Here I am putting in an order. She wanted it at 7am but had to wait a bit. The hospital also gave her a handmade polarfleece blanket, a handmade D*ra pillowcase, and a stuffed puppy she named Dinosaur.
Some last mac n cheese for the road.
