Your Children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you. And though they are with you they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their thoughts dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. Kahlil Gibran

Island Adventure

Paul and Niko went off on a kayaking adventure to sleep out on Valcour Island on Lake Champlain. He will narrate this blog:

When we woke up on the island we worried about paddling out because it was windy and there were pretty big waves and my Dad would have to take two trips to bring all of our stuff back. While I was fueling the fire, I felt a bone in the top of my foot feel like it was almost bending or something. A few seconds after I walked three steps it hurt so much I fell onto the ground and my Dad had to do some chiropractic maneuvers to try to fix it. I had to sit in the hammock until it felt better.
This is about half of what we were going to go up against.
While we were waiting for the wind to settle down we walked on the beach and found a tree that the roots had the tree up above the ground. My Dad had me take a picture of it.
We walked by the light tower.

I was obsessed with making a fire, but my Dad did not want to make one because of the high winds. He didn't want some flames to come out and burn the island down. The wind settled down a little bit, so my Dad said yes. Once we got the fire going the wind picked up again. Some folks offered us a ride back to shore, but the waves were so strong that one of the boat's cleat ripped out. So, they had to move the boats first. But on the same boat that the cleat ripped out the steering went out and we spun in circles and almost crashed to shore. Eventually, we had to drop anchor and another boat had to take us to the dock.
After we got to the other dock, I had to jump over the front of the boat and into another boat.
This is the boat we rode on back to shore.
They let me sit in the front seat.
