Your Children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you. And though they are with you they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their thoughts dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. Kahlil Gibran

2nd Gotcha Day Anniversary July 21 at Out to Lunch

Here are Willow and Niko on Willow's 2nd Anniversary of Gotcha Day. Two years ago today we were in sweltering hot Guangzhou, Guangdong China meeting Fengxin for the first time. Here she is watching D*ra with Niko. This week she has finally branched out from The W*ggles to watch D*ra. Niko and I are really excited about the diversity in DVD viewing that one small change provides.
This is Willow not really wanting her photo taken. I wasn't too please anyway, because she took her diaper off early in the night. It was dry but her entire bed set was not. She gets bored and finds it a challenge to take all of the tape off of her diaper. The tape is not working anymore. I have made threats and shown that I am angry; that doesn't work. She smiles sweetly from the bed and says, "I took my diaper off!"
When Willow is in her frisky mood nothing stops her from pushing the fun further and further. All I wanted was a nice Gotcha Day photo on the stairs.
This was the best posed photo I was going to get for the moment.
We went to Wednesdays Out to Lunch with food and music. We each started out with out own lunches individually chosen from among many different food vendors. That is not Niko's lunch on his lap, however.
Niko got my Tofu Pad Thai with cilantro, peanuts and fresh lime and I got his surprisingly hot hummus Greek sandwich, and Willow is took his chips.
Now Paul has the other half of the Greek sandwich...kind of musical lunches today.
Willow looks distressed but is not. She is saying, "Do you see my Big Baba? Do you? Do you? He i s a Big Baba." She tells me this all of the time. She doesn't stop until I say, "Yes he is. I see him."
There is a science booth for kids and this is the second year we happened to catch the rocketry theme. After studying rockets last year for the science fair at school, Niko's air powered rocket he made went up quite far.
This type of activity is perfect for Niko.
