Your Children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you. And though they are with you they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their thoughts dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. Kahlil Gibran

Lazy Day of Christmas

While waiting for everyone to gather and for Willow to wake up Christmas morning, Niko dug into his stocking.
Niko had put Tic Tacs on his Santa list...not quite sure why, but luckily he got some and in three different flavors.
Niko did an incredible job of giving this Christmas. At school they ask for small new and used items to have a garage sale of sorts called Grandma's Attic. Each item costs .25. He picked out a hummingbird candle holder for Yiayia, because she liked the real hummingbird feeder he got for her last year.
Niko gave me a pair of beautiful earrings. He thinks someone gave them away by mistake and they might be real. I told him it doesn't matter, because I wouldn't sell them anyway.
As well, Paul got a special gift from Niko.
At first we weren't sure why he picked this candle holder for Paul, but Niko explained that he bought it because it would help to remember Grandpa better.
Niko made Papa a Greek Stadium in art class and he also got...
fishing lures purchased for .25.
Niko bought Willow a Wiggles VHS tape and a large musical piano...both from school. However, he put From:Anonymous on the tag of the piano because he knew I would complain about how large it is given our small living space. Niko also bought Uncles Miles a game of Snakes and Ladders for him to play with his son. It was amazing how well thought out each gift was. Niko is an amazing kid.

Willow enjoyed Christmas this year but needed to pace herself as far as opening the gifts. She would say, "I can't" while holding her hands up into her arm pits. She really liked getting her own bike from Yiayia and Papa.

Willow also liked her very own microwave.
She is kissing the musical snowman...not eating his carrot nose. We took a break from opening gifts and watching "It's a Wonderful Life." It has been a long time since I saw that movie. Later Nana came over and Paul threw together a great meal out of what we had in the house: sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green beans, chicken, cauliflower with Greek olives and broccoli. Willow ate so much chicken and broccoli, I thought she would burst. Niko, on the other hand, wasn't so thrilled. He would have preferred another Thai meal.
Niko was very excited about the mini camcorder from his Aunt and Uncle; of course, every word any of us said the whole evening ended up on tape...thanks M & M & M! Willow enjoyed watching the footage while on Niko's shoulder.
